"Family Picnic"

Immediately following the service there will be a fun filled Family Picnic for all members and friends. Great food, family games, crafts for children. Plus pie and ice cream on the patio after lunch, and an opportunity to listen and dance to the music of Cougar and Daniela.

"Gospel Choir"

Workshop with LaJoyce Daniel-Cain

LaJoyce Daniel-Cain served as the Gospel Choir director at Unity Church of Christianity in Columbus, Ohio. She is also the director of the Gospel Choir at Otterbein College and the United States Postal Service in Columbus, Ohio. LaJoyce has led Gospel workshops at other Unity Churches as well. She is an amazing musician who will inspire you to open your heart and soul to new depths of joy and power. Join LaJoyce Daniel-Cain for a powerful and transformative weekend. During this workshop you will learn music that is rooted in the African - American tradition. It will open your heart to a powerful experience of celebration and joy. The Gospel Choir Workshop participants will provide the special music on Sunday, November 2nd at our 10:00 am service.

“Riches and Honor”

Workshop with Edwene Gaines

Sunday, November 9th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm

Edwene Gaines has made a 100% commitment to the transformation of the abundance consciousness of the world. She is the author of the book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity, published by Rodale Books. An ordained Unity minister since 1979, Edwene is owner and director of Rock Ridge Retreat Center in Valley Head, Alabama. She is also the president of the Masters’ School, also located in Valley Head, where she has trained over 400 Master Prosperity Teachers. At the workshop you will learn: The Metaphysics of Prosperity, The Function and Practice of Forgiving and How to Have an Understanding Heart. Edwene will also explore the Prosperity Power of Compassion and Faith as the Mystical Mandate. Edwene will also speak at our 10:00 am Sunday service.

"Karaoke Evening"

Friday, November 14th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm

The Circle of Friends is sponsoring a fun filled evening with karaoke singing to the hits from the fifties through today. Food, prizes and a “Dress Your Decade” contest as well! Everyone is invited to the Fellowship Hall which will be transformed into a coffeehouse!

"Why We Are Believers in Exile"

Lecture by John Shelby Spong

John Shelby Spong is the bestselling and, arguably, most visible theologian of recent times. He has taken a very unique and provocative position regarding religious faith. He challenges us to question current biblical interpretations and to critically think about religious tenets. He was the Episcopal bishop of Newark, New Jersey, before his retirement in 2000. Bishop Spong has taught at Harvard and at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. He has lectured extensively throughout the world. His books include Jesus for the Nonreligious (HarperOne 2007), A New Christianity for a New World (Harper San Francisco 2001), Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism (Harper San Francisco 1992) and Why Christianity Must Change or Die (Harper San Francisco 1999). Bishop Spong will also speak at the 10 am Sunday service.

"Anniversary Concert"

Will is the founder and former owner of Windham Hill Records, which has featured numerous world-renowned new age artists. As a Grammy award winner in 2004, Will Ackerman is very active as a producer, writer, publisher and recording artist. Tickets are $20.00, and the concert will be held at 7:30 pm in our Sanctuary. Dr. Charlotte Shelton has served as president and chief executive officer of Unity since July 2006. Previously she was chair of the Management, Marketing & M.I.S. Division at the Helzberg School, Rockhurst University, and a visiting professor in Peking University’s International MBA program, Beijing, China. Charlotte has also owned her own consulting business, WiseWork, and has held senior management positions in financial services and energy organizations. Charlotte Shelton is the author of “Quantum Leaps: 7 Skills for Workplace Re-Creation” (Butterworth-Heinemann, 1999), and co-author of “The Next Revolution: What Gen X Women Want at Work and How Their Boomer Bosses Can Help Them Get It” (Davies-Black, 2005).

“Rededication Ceremony”

On November 23rd we are planning a rededication of our facilities, our staff, our organization, our volunteers and, with your help, our membership. We’re asking you to please keep an eye out for a special mailing that will be sent to current members this September so that you too can “re-dedicate” for this next phase of our wonderful journey.
